About Us

StandUp For Your Sisters presents That’s What SHE Said, an evening of stand-up comedy to benefit Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto. The show will take place on Monday, March 5th, 2012 at Hugh’s Room. A silent auction will be held in conjunction with the show where audience members will have the opportunity to bid on several beauty, entertainment and luxury items provided by our generous donors. All proceeds from the silent auction and ticket sales will go to Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto. Last year’s show raised $10,400 and we’ve been working hard all year long to raise the bar for the 2012 show.

If you’ve never been to a StandUp Sisters event, our show stands apart from others for two reasons: the comics are all women over the age of 25 and the majority have only been doing stand-up for a few short years. When you throw in some of the most hilarious comedy veterans out there on the same bill, it makes for a great night. Just ask anyone who attended our previous shows!

It’s a show that benefits people and their families living with cancer, but the jokes overall touch upon every other “c” word you can think of: careers, children, compliments, crazy exes. The Sisters have gained a lot of experience playing comedy clubs across the GTA and beyond, growing as comics and developing new material for this year’s show that we can’t wait to share with you!

And we’re thrilled that SHELLEY MARSHALL will be headlining our show this year. Shelley lost her mother to cancer at an early age and went on to become an internationally-known stand-up comic, something she her mother would have wanted for her, what she calls, “the best life ever!”. And it is! Our MC this year is the very funny and highly inspirational KATE DAVIS. As a comic she has toured North America, and as an in-demand public speaker, she has opened for Margaret Trudeau and Bill Clinton, among many others. And our favourite Gemini-award winning legend of Canadian Comedy, SANDRA SHAMAS, returns as Special Guest, along with Canadian Comedy Award Nominee, MARTHA O’NEILL.

Great comedy for a great cause – that’s what our show is all about.
